Olympic and ISSF sport pistol events: 10 m air pistol, 25 m rapid fire, 25 m sport pistol and 50 m free pistol.
Pistol shooting has been part of the Olympic programme since the 1896 Athens Games . In Hungary, the sport has been organised since the early 1900s and has produced numerous world-class competitors.
The MSSZ Pistol Division covers all ISSF-governed pistol events. The current Olympic programme includes 10 m air pistol (men's and women's individual + mixed team) and 25 m rapid fire pistol (men) and 25 m sport pistol (women).
Notable Hungarian pistol results: Tamás Kovács , multiple European Championship medallist in air pistol and 50 m free pistol. The Hungarian team regularly participates in the World Cup series, European Championships and Olympic qualifiers.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics , the 10 m air pistol mixed team event debuted its second cycle, reflecting the sport's ongoing evolution. The ISSF regularly updates competition rules — in 2013 the finals format was radically changed with the introduction of elimination-style rounds.
